Prior to the postponement of Westminster, the Rose City Cluster scheduled for January 19-23 was going to be in the same position as Indianapolis in previous years. As their cluster was concluding on the Sunday prior to the Westminster conformation judging. Fortunately, Westminster made the announcement of the postponement prior to the entry closing for Rose City, giving exhibitors an opportunity to switch gears. Entries for Rose City close today, Wednesday, January 5th at noon!

On that particular day, in the not-too-distant past, there were several good quality dogs in competition but it was perfectly obvious to any knowledgeable onlooker reasonably familiar with the breed being judged that there was one exhibit which stood out, head and shoulders, so to speak, above the rest. It was clearly the best in terms of make, shape, movement and ‘type’. But yet it failed to go Winners and its breeder-owner-handler had to settle for the Reserve position.

SHOW TO POSTPONE ITS NYC JANUARY EVENT

I am deeply saddened to report the passing of young Pacific Northwest dog show exhibitor Jamie Smith. Jamie was only 23 years old and died in a tragic accident. Jamie was very active in the 4-H program, and she was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Our sympathies to Jamie’s family and friends at this most difficult time.
