Maybe you’ve seen the quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s book, The Little Prince: “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” Whether your 2025 goal in conformation sports is earning your first major, piloting your dog to #1 in your breed, or something in between, this time of year is a good time to set a goal and create a realistic plan. Here are things to consider and things to put on your calendar right now to help you succeed in the show ring this year.

Before opening your calendar, create a document for each dog you’re planning goals for in 2025. Answer each of the following questions in writing–you can refer back to the answers if your plan feels off-track at any point in the year, adjusting your plan and calendar as needed.
