My son and I were recently wandering through an antique shop, mostly for a distraction from the daily work routine, and perhaps to experience a transport back in time.

Amazingly, soon after entering the shop, I spied an object that produced an immediate flashback to experiences many years ago (note: I purchased the object): a December – Christmas 1956 issue of Dog World Magazine!

My rapid recollections included purchasing copies of Dog World Magazine from a grocery store magazine section AND there was another connection to my FIRST-ever AKC dog show exhibitor experience as a child about 8 years of age. I entered the ring at an All-Breed show with my first purebred Cocker Spaniel; a small buff male whose call name was “Sunny”. The Cocker judge that day was the renowned Maxwell Riddle, judge, and writer for Dog World Magazine (much later I found out that Mr. Riddle had to do with the Dog Writers’ Association of America and was an author of books).
