During the past year there have been several new TV programs aired, among them the Masked Singer and The Masked Dancer. These shows are silly, lighthearted, mind numbing hours to help us pass the troubled times we are involved in presently.
Well, we have our own new pastime in the dog world…THE MASKED HANDLER! Sitting at home and viewing live streaming dog shows, it has become very obvious to me that the usual ebb and flow of the classes is quite a bit different now! This is not an accusation of anyone, especially the judges, but it makes one think; there is a difference in the ebb and flow of the class judging. From where I sit, many of the familiar faces are indistinguishable with the masks on. Of course, the more popular or publicized dogs are frequently recognizable as, at this point, they are not required to be masked! I’m kidding, of course!
The sad part of this is the fact that a smile or friendly expression is hidden during the entire process. There is no familiar human reaction as we were so used to seeing in the ring and outside of the ring, as well.
