It was a huge honor to be invited to judge at the Westminster Kennel Club show this year. Looking around the Jacob Javits Center, surrounded by purple and gold decor, there was no doubt where you stood. The energy in the room was palpable, and the hospitality was over the top. The excitement in everyone’s bones was far beyond the norm. Such a thrill.

Pugs

The Pug, GCHB Rose’s Rip Tide, which I had the pleasure of awarding Best of Breed that day, was a pleasure to the eye and the hand. He was a compact, square, tightly knit black dog. I liked his size because he was not overly done, but he had amazing bone, stood on strong feet, and was balanced front to rear. His hard topline was level standing or gaiting, and his underline matched his topline. His head was large, well-wrinkled, and perfectly round, and it was so nice to see a small, thin ear on this wonderful head. His gait was balanced, and his footfall steady. The whole package certainly put a smile on my face..
