The new year is in full swing and. the first month of shows is in the record books. It seems that in our quest for the next show, our anticipation of the next judging assignment, our thrill of seeing the next great one, we sometimes forget to look back on those we lost just a short time ago. I took on that task as I wrote this article. The results of my search took my breath away.

I had several household names–some were good friends–that I knew would be on my list. I also knew there were some who I might omit in error. However, once I started searching, I realized there wasn’t enough space in this column to pay tribute to them all. I had to make a cut knowing full well I would leave out some people who deserved to be included.

Here is my list of heroes of our sport who passed away in 2022. They dedicated their lives to the sport of purebred dogs and will be missed forever. However, the impact they had on our industry will never be forgotten. They are:
