In the world of purebred dogs, there has never been a shortage of pride in our accomplishments–or in the creative ways we choose to share them. From the printed pages of the AKC Gazette to today’s instant digital platforms, advertising has long been part celebration, part strategy, and part mirror of how the fancy sees itself.
In our corner of the purebred dog world, pride in achievement is both natural and well-earned, though the degree to which it is displayed can sometimes invite debate. And today, there seems to be no limit to the ways people can get their message out.

The AKC Gazette also highlighted recent Best In Show winners as part of its regular coverage, while exhibitors could purchase ads in the “Spotlighting the Shows” section. The format was straightforward: the dog’s name, owner, award, and event, with little else added. Placements ranged from class wins to major Bests and Specialty awards, and the advertising was aimed largely at the broader conformation fancy.
