“I had some goals — and this was one of them.”
Those were Andy Linton’s words just moments after winning Best In Show at the 150th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. A short sentence, spoken quietly. Yet it revealed something important about elite performance. Because wins at that level are rarely accidents.
Manifestation — Before It Became a Buzzword
For many people, the idea of manifestation entered mainstream awareness with the release of The Secret in the late 2000s. The film sparked global interest in the Law of Attraction and introduced the notion that thoughts influence outcomes. It also invited criticism — often deserved — for oversimplifying a complex subject.
What The Secret did not invent, however, was the idea itself. Long before the movie, authors, philosophers, psychologists, athletes, and spiritual thinkers were writing about the power of focused thought, intention, and belief. What changed was the language, not the principle.
In the dog show world, many successful handlers have practiced a form of manifestation for decades. They just never called it that.
