Nothing Happens By Accident

I often wonder why breeders are puzzled by others who can produce more winners and some of the better dogs than they can. Is it because they had better luck, was it a roll of the dice? Maybe it’s none of these.
The truth is that most things do not happen by accident. Advancements and success usually happen because there are new technologies, better ideas and methods–and a lot of energy, coupled with a determination that pushes things along. Most often, change occurs because someone gave thought to finding a better way and then had the determination to bring it about.
Lurking in the background, however, are usually those who will disagree. They often have a way of reminding us of the Chicken Little story. The acorn that strikes the protagonist’s head causing her to see danger and decline around every corner, proclaiming, “The sky is falling.” The frightened hen gathers support from a sympathetic goose, duck, and turkey who all believe her story, and together they take their concerns to the king. On the way, they encounter a fox who offers them a more direct route to the castle, but instead delivers them to his lair from which they cannot escape. The moral of this story is to avoid believing everything you hear. The negativity and noise that follows has the tendency to produce a hysteria of misinformation which is one of the surest ways to get lost in the weeds. Those who fear the falling acorns usually get caught up in the mess that follows. They usually belong to the subculture of losers, and they should be ignored.
