I still remember my first time asking Siri a question in 2011. I felt like I was living in the future–this little computer that could answer anything! I asked about weather, restaurants, who won the 1958 World Series, and more.

Siri always had an answer: confident, immediate, and often hilariously wrong.

“Siri, call Mom.”

“Calling… Mark.”

“No, Siri–Mom.”

“Playing ‘Mom’ by Meghan Trainor.”

Close–but not quite. And when it comes to your dog, “not quite” just isn’t good enough.

Today we have ChatGPT, infinitely more sophisticated. But something hasn’t changed: we still mistake confidence for accuracy. Nowhere is this more obvious than when people upload photos of their dogs and ask AI whether they meet breed standards.

I get it. I really do.

Every weekend, social media floods us with gorgeous dogs and their ribbons. Meanwhile, your beautiful girl hasn’t gotten a ribbon in weeks, and you’re wondering if maybe the judges just don’t see what you see. So you take your best stacking photo, upload it to ChatGPT, and ask: “Does my dog meet the breed standard?”
