1. The judge has withheld all awards from your dog in the BBE class for lack of merit. You’ve also entered the same dog in Open. Can you still show him in Open? Must you still show him in Open? What if the judge had awarded him 2nd out of 1 instead?

A. “Every dog which is present in the ring for a class in which it is properly entered must continue to compete in all competition in its breed or variety for which it is entered or becomes eligible, unless it has been excused, dismissed, disqualified or found to be ineligible under the rules.” Awards withheld does not equal “excused, dismissed, disqualified or found to be ineligible under the rules” so you must still show him in Open.

2. Your dog is excused as lame in the Puppy Class. You have also entered him in Open and by the time Open class goes in he is no longer lame (let’s say you found the burr!). Can you compete with him in the Open class?

A. No. He was excused, which means he may not compete further at that event even though he’s no longer lame.

3. Your dog is excused as lame at the all-breed, but he’s also entered in a concurrent specialty later that same day. Can you still show him at the concurrent specialty?
