On September 8th, 2022, a most remarkable woman, Queen Elizabeth II, formally named, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary by her parents, died. For seventy years, she selflessly served her country and the vast commonwealth over which she reigned. Can you imagine being a young twenty-five year-old mother with two small children suddenly thrust into the role of Monarch? What is even harder to comprehend is that with strength, dignity, common sense, and benevolence she worked tirelessly for her subjects. Somehow she managed to appreciate being Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor and Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith throughout her entire lifetime.
Who could faithfully maintain the same position for seventy years as successfully as the late Queen? From watching her over many of the years, one can only marvel at her tenacity and insight. Few can come close to her ethics and ethos. Her last official act speaks volumes. Although under medical care, The Queen was determined to meet with England’s new Prime Minister at her home in Scotland, Balmoral Castle. Shortly thereafter, the Queen succumbed at age ninety-six with her family in attendance. Once again, the blending of lives was achieved.
Why am I sharing these details with you, dear readers? I share them because during her lifetime this iconic human being demonstrated a unique ability to combine the necessities of being the Queen with those of her personal life. Cleverly she had a unique instinct to be whatever any situation required. Remember she was a young woman when she ascended the throne. How many CEOs do you know who could manage what Queen Elizabeth was expected to do? I think not many. In her personal life, she added children, grandchildren, their spouses, their triumphs and tragedies. Those were not easy feats either.
