Have you ever heard the phrase “Teamwork makes the dream work?” It can sometimes be elusive. It means that effective teamwork achieves much more than a single individual can. If you have ever worked on a show committee that really clicks, you know how very true it is.

When a group of people share a desire and work together to reach a common goal, their desired results can be reached or surpassed through effective cooperation. Everyone’s role may differ but, when delegated effectively, every contribution matters.

A highly functional show committee can achieve incredible results, not just incrementally, but much more so than the average show committee. Even more exciting than that, a great show committee is a pleasure to work on. In fact, all of the work that goes into putting on a successful dog show becomes motivating, fun and incredibly rewarding when you are surrounded by committee members who make up a dream team. Who would not want to work on a committee like that?

The importance of teamwork

It is all very well to have the desire for a highly functional show committee, but how does the show chairman actually create his or her dream team from among the club’s membership? After all, not everyone possess the talents and motivation, but it is still possible to put together an amazing team from among the membership.

A show committee is most effective when the best attributes of the committee members are amplified. Naturally, each member’s strengths and weaknesses differ, so teamwork helps to fill that gap. By demonstrating a spirit of support, all members of the show committee are able to make meaningful contributions.
