The 145th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show was held at Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, New York on June 12 and 13. We asked the seven group judges and Patricia Craige Trotter, the Best in Show judge, to talk about their assignments and placements. Their comments, as well as those of the Junior Showmanship Finals judge, follow:
The Hound Group
The Hound Group was the first into the ring on Saturday night. Judge Jamie Hubbard of Bloomington, Indiana found the group to be “full of quality; my job was to find those exhibits which came as close to their individual breed standard as possible.”
Hubbard praised the Westminster Kennel Club for staging the show at Lyndhurst: “Firstly, I have to congratulate the hard-working members of the Westminster Kennel Club for putting on such an amazing event. Not only were they able to hold the event, they were able to create the spectacle that the show has become so famous for.”
His placements were:

GCHP Pinnacle Kentucky Bourbon (Whippet)

“First to the Whippet bitch. She was flawless on the night. She was moderate and of the correct size. Her curves were in all the right places, both standing and moving, giving her that graceful outline required by the breed. Those big dark eyes accentuating her feminine head are just the icing on the cake. She moves with such grace, without effort, and not one time did her shape alter from what it looked like standing. To find out later that she had a litter three months prior was a true testament to her handler to bring her back in such wonderful condition.”
