What breed of dog am I?
- I am a breed in the Sporting group; the official dog of South Carolina.
- I am a medium-sized sporting dog with a docked tail. I am built to cover all types of ground conditions with agility and reasonable speed. I was developed as a lighter and smaller hunting companion than my larger sporting dog cousins to fit in the portable section boats of the time period. I became known as “the little brown dog that doesn’t rock the boat.” I am a solid liver color – a deep reddish brown color that includes various shades of chocolate brown, from light to very dark.
- I was bred to work in the lakes and swamps of South Carolina; I can swim like a seal. I am an upbeat gundog known for my intensity, versatility, and effortless balanced gait but also thrive on human companionship and get along well with other dogs and children.
