Table Talk

Like many of you, I am getting ready to fly the friendly skies enroute to the city that never sleeps; beautiful downtown Manhattan for this year’s Westminster week! For those of you who cannot make it to New York this year, we will be bringing you some live Table Talk segments throughout the week, and we have included a link on the Canine Chronicle website for the live streaming and video schedule. So tune in, it’s gonna be fun!

As of now, the weather gods seem to be with us. Temps should be in the 30s and 40s with slight chances of rain a day or two. Considering some of the wicked weather we have dealt with for Westminster in the past, I am thrilled with this forecast!

I have heard from some of our readers expressing their disappointment that the exhibitor packets from Westminster KC only include admittance for the day their breed is being shown. Many people feel that for the cost of their entry, they should receive admittance tickets for both days. While I could not agree more, I can only surmise that this change is due to the cost incurred by Westminster. You can voice your concerns to the Westminster Kennel Club and hope that they will be able to figure out a way to change this policy for next year. Handlers are also concerned that they will have trouble getting into the Pier to care for their dogs. Here is hoping that this issue is resolved well before people arrive. I did reach out to the Westminster Kennel Club regarding this issue, but they were unable to comment. If I hear anything, I will be sure to let everyone know!

Congratulations to Kelly and Edwin Shupp on the birth of their baby boy, Porter Eugene Shupp, born February 1 and weighing in at 9 lb. 6 oz. May you and your son have a lifetime of health and happiness.

I am sorry to report that Vera Halpin Bistrim passed away. Vera showed Miniature Pinschers and Dalmatians under the Halrok Kennel name and was also a licensed AKC Conformation judge. We wish the family condolences at this difficult time.

Celebrating birthdays this week are Jamie Clute, Jane Myers, Kathy Kjestaa, Larry Cornelius, Heidi Kellerman, Michelle Michael, Janet Harner, Billy Wheeler, Erika Busby and Allan Brown.

Best of luck to everyone attending Westminster and most importantly, travel safe! Until next time…
