Table Talk
It was GREAT to stop by the Steel City Kennel Club shows (which are held in my own backyard) this past weekend! I saw good friends who I have not seen in quite some time. It was great being able to visit with Holley Eldred and Dale Kaplan, seeing Mike Szabo and Jeff Inman, and catching up with Daryl Martin and Jeré Marder. Most of all, being able to see Nina and give my own pooches hugs and smooches made for an uplifting weekend! Some folks were only there for one day and left to spend the Easter Holiday with their family.
Last year, Kent Delaney was able to stop by the shows and visit with the folks. Unfortunately, Kent’s health has declined and he is now under 24-hour care. Please consider sending Kent a card with some words of encouragement. Cards can be sent to his home and his sister-in-law will take them to him. Please send to: Kent Delaney, 10438 Owen Drive, Orland Park, IL 60467.
I was saddened to hear about Bernie Schwartz’ stroke. Bernie is back home now with 24-hour care. Please send Bernie and Fran a card if you get the chance. I know each of them could use the positive thoughts. Cards can be sent to: Bernie & Fran Schwartz, 24500 N. Elm Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045.
Larry Cornelius has finished up his “office” training and is now hitting the road. I hope to see him soon on the West Coast where he will ultimately land full time and call home.
Ellen Fetter should be on her way back to Ohio from Florida soon to enjoy the summer months in the Midwest. We look forward to having her back! I know Nina will be relieved that she can keep an eye on her.
Barbara Gossett Humphries is scheduled to have hip replacement surgery in early May. Our best wishes for a speedy recovery!
Desi Murphy has gone on another Asian journey, this time to China. I can’ wait to hear all about his trip upon his return. Meanwhile, Tim Catterson went to Australia for a judging assignment. It’s great to see our fine AKC judges spreading their knowledge around the globe.
Invasion of the Poodles in Gray Summit, Missouri will begin this weekend! With well over 800 dogs, it will make for a very busy week but I look forward to the ‘greatest specialty on earth’ every year. There are 17 juniors entered in PCA! I find that simply amazing!
The feedback from dog fanciers and the pet community on the Beverly Hills Kennel Club broadcast has been fantastic. Here is hoping that the outreach brings new blood to our sport!
Celebrating birthdays this week are: Brian Livingston, Rosie Steinke, Alyssia Booth, Bryan Martin, Linda Teitelbaum, Tiffany Skinner, and Tootie Longo.
