Table Talk – July 18, 2018
It makes me so happy when I read or hear positive feedback from a fancier! I think that when people see positive statements about something a judge or dog person did at a show, it makes a huge difference in how those in our sport feel about it. So, a big shout-out to Dana Cline who took extra time and gave positive encouragement to a mentally challenged boy who was in the ring for the first time. He needed that extra little boost and Dana came through with flying colors! When he was judging this young man, he did not know how big a deal that 2 minutes was to him, but he recognized a need for extra time and compassion. This, my friends, is what our sport should be all about. This boy was so excited with his second-place ribbon and is proud to now call himself a dog show person! Thank you Dana for making a difference!
The march across Texas continues, but there is light at the end of the tunnel my friends! Hang in there! As the Houston cluster begins, it is a sign that one more year of the Texas series of weekly clusters is nearing the end. Good luck to all, and be safe.
Entries for the World Dog Show have closed and there is a total of 33,500 entries! Please be sure to let me know if you are making the journey to Amsterdam. I would love to hear about your trip!
I was pleased to hear from Art Johnson that his wife Gloria has completed her final chemotherapy treatment for Pancreatic Cancer and has been declared in remission by her oncologist! Gloria will be returning to the show ring to exhibit their Chihuahuas in August. Way to go Gloria!
Moe Miyagawa has been released from rehab and is at home under the care of Shane Hooper! Thank you Shane for opening your heart and your home to Moe. Moe would love to hear from his friends with cards and letters. They can be sent to: Moe Miyagawa, 16609 Slover Avenue, Fontana, CA 92337.
Congratulations to Erin Hall who has been released from the hospital with her new (new to her) kidney! We look forward to seeing you back in the ring soon, Erin.
Sadly, AKC judge Chris Walkowicz’ husband Ed passed away. Ed has been fighting cancer for quite some time.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jeff Wright who lost his mother, Theresa Wright, this past week.
I was sad to hear that Ron and Debbie Scott’s home had a severe fire on July 4. They are sorting through the damage and I hope that they are able to salvage some of their belongings. Please keep them in your thoughts as they rebuild and try to salvage what they can.
Our thoughts are with Rich Lawless and family. They lost “Breaker”, BIS CH Touche Pearlbrook Heartbreak, at the age of 15 years young. “Breaker” was the first AKC BIS winning Lowchen.
While Doug Johnson was off on a fishing excursion in Alaska, his son Colton was shining once again on the body building stage. Congratulations Colton on another job well done at the NPC Colorado state contest.
A very happy 4th anniversary to lovebirds Tracy Szaras and Luiz Abreu. Also celebrating an anniversary this week is the charming couple, Terry and Candy James. May you have many more years of healthy, happy wedded bliss!
Celebrating birthdays this week are: Tammy Bohlke, Priscilla McCune, Barbara LaVere, Gino Pavlopoulos, Carissa Shampeno, Tabatha Buckley-Bettis, Mickey Feigelson, Kris Shultz, John Garrison, Dora Wagner and Shari Lee.
Keep it positive my friends and extend a thank you to our hard-working cluster committees and show chairs. Watch for that opportunity to do a good deed and help a newbie. Please send “kudos” to to Deb.Cooper@caninechronicle.com and let’s share them with the fancy!
Wherever your travels take you, please be careful! Until next time….
