Looking Back – Westminster’s Best Juniors

Dr. Charles Garvin – Westminster Best Junior – 1969

Dr. Charles Garvin, successful breeder and judge, got his start in 1965 at the young age of 13 with his first Dalmatian, Ch. Korcula Salona CD, but to Charlie she was just Corky. Like many new to the sport, Charlie started in obedience, moved to conformation and then juniors. Not only was he the recipient of Best Junior Handler at Westminster Kennel Club in 1969 under one of the greats, Dick Cooper, but later went on to judge this prestigious event in 2005 awarding Lexie Ditlow Best Junior Handler. Lexie has gone on to blaze her own trail in the sport by becoming a successful professional handler.
