Credibility and expertise take time to develop and become respected. Writing a blog, which used to function as a diary on the internet, is time-consuming and requires patience and perseverance, but it bears fruit in the long run.

It is rather difficult to gain people’s trust and make them believe that what you say is true. Writing a blog is an efficient way to show your thorough knowledge of a subject. Your blog might be about a certain breed, might contain information about breeding, or you might give advice about keeping and training a dog.

Starting and running a blog might take a long time and may not bring success immediately. You must choose where you want to publish your blog, you must design the site, provide content, then follow, moderate and answer comments.

It’s only worth writing a blog if you plan to be dedicated for a long time as it’s very time-consuming. If you consider yourself an expert, but you are not talented at writing, you don’t have ideas for topics, you don’t know how to maintain readers‘ interest, or you simply don’t have so much free time, don’t even start that blog. A blog that is badly written doesn’t imply expertise, even if you happen to have expertise in the area you are covering. Yet, if you feel you meet all the criteria mentioned above, start one!

Step 1: Design

As for design and ergonomy, the same ideas apply here as we have already mentioned regarding websites. A blog is only a website which has a special function: it gives a chance to publish your thoughts and opinions.

Your task is easier though, as there are a lot of websites that help create blogs, so it doesn’t take that much energy to ensure good design. These websites contain built-in panels with which you can control the set-up and arrangement of your blog easily. You choose these in the beginning, but you can alter them later as your needs change.

There are many ways to administer a blog. Internationally, the two most widespread sites are WordPress and WordPress.com. The former is an engine just to run a blog, which means there are a lot of things that are easily programmed; so you can make more of your blog with more knowledge of IT and programming.

As opposed to that, WordPress.com is for users who want to have everything done with a few clicks. The interface is done well, it is being improved continuously, a lot of things can be adjusted, panels can be used for the basic adjustments of your blog, and it treats spam effectively. Not all the functions are free of charge, but the basic version will normally be enough. Since it’s very popular and a lot of people use it, there are numerous free plug-ins available which help you add some more functions and parts to your blog.

If you start using WordPress, it’s worth studying what works and how. Be sure to do the adjustments before you reveal your blog to the public. Adjust the set-up and data security as well. This should be done in the beginning and so you don’t have to deal with it later when creating a new design or updating a current one.

Should you not like WordPress for some reason and you wish to find another blog server, there are a lot of other solutions. There is Blogger.com, run by Google, and Medium.com, which has just been started and is gaining momentum.
