In Loving Memory of Salli Moore Kottas
We received the very sad news that Salli Moore Kottas of Griffin, Georgia passed away on February 7. “Aunt Salli,” as her friends called her, was a longtime fancier and breeder of Boxers and Miniature Pinschers.
Aunt Salli was a Florida icon; she was active in her local dog club as well as the American Boxer Club. She served as the President and Show Chairman of the Greater Daytona Dog Fanciers Association for many years. At that time, it was the first dog show of the year and kicked off the Florida Circuit. Aunt Salli was also the President and Show Chairman of the American Boxer Club for decades. She was a visionary and a huge part in making their National Specialty a show of shows and what it is today. Under Aunt Salli’s direction, the American Boxer Club received a Winkie Award nomination for Specialty Show Of The Year.
Aunt Salli bred Boxers under the SAJAK prefix and produced many champions. Perhaps one of her greatest achievements in the show ring was breeding and campaigning her first Multiple All-Breed Best in Show winner – GCH KimRo’s Miss Vera Vain, a Miniature Pinscher.
Aunt Salli will be remembered for her larger than life personality, love of purebred dogs and the purebred dog community, and her incredible zest for life. She will be sorely missed by the fancy.
The Canine Chronicle extends our deepest condolences to Salli’s daughters, grandchildren, family, and many friends who knew and loved her.
