In Loving Memory of Rick Baggenstos

September 9, 1950 – August 3, 2026

Rick Baggenstos of The Dalles, Oregon, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and mentor, as well as a highly respected member of the dog show community. Rick devoted much of his life to dogs and the sport he loved. In addition to his accomplishments in the sport of purebred dogs, Rick was a Navy veteran who served his country proudly.

As a professional dog handler and past zone rep of the Professional Handlers Association (PHA), Rick earned the admiration and friendship of countless people throughout the dog show world. His knowledge, dedication and love for dogs became a treasured family legacy.

Rick is lovingly remembered by his wife, Dinah; his sons, John Baggenstos and his wife, Jennifer Holmberg Baggenstos, and Luke Baggenstos and his wife, Rowan Baggenstos; and his three cherished grandchildren, Cole, Teagan, and Nolan.

Rick will be remembered for his kindness, friendship, mentorship and the lasting influence he had on his family and the sport of purebred dogs. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Canine Chronicle extends our heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to Rick’s family and friends during this time of loss.
