Table Talk
I had big plans to be in Kalamazoo this weekend for a couple of days, but that did not happen which was disappointing. I heard that the show was well done as has been the case with this circuit in the most recent past. I enjoy attending and hope to see everyone next year!
I am getting ready to take off for the Coyote Cluster in Tucson early this week. This circuit has one day of specialties and 4 days of All Breed shows and is a continuation of the circuit held in the same location this past weekend. Many of my friends have already been on the road for a week. I look forward to seeing them!
A message to those of you who have not yet completed your entries for the AKC Championship: entries close at 3 pm EST this Wednesday! I do believe that the Westminster entries are closing soon as well…better check your closing dates!
I heard that the AKC is now getting in the online shopping business? I am not sure how they maintain a not-for-profit status, but that’s for the lawyers to figure out I guess. The AKC certainly has a lot of things going on these days beyond registration and events for purebred dogs.
Let’s all send positive thoughts to Ron and Debbie Scott. For those who don’t know, Ron suffered a subdural hematoma and is recovering at home post-surgery. He has another surgery ahead of him in a few weeks, so everyones’s thoughts and good wishes are appreciated. You can reach out to Ron and Debbie via Facebook if you do not have their email address. Gerry Meisels has also been hospitalized for several weeks, but I hear he is finally on the mend! I am certain he would love to hear from his friends in the dog show community.
Jack Ward, former AKC Chairman of the Board, had a significant milestone recently: he turned 100 years young! Happy Birthday Mr. Ward and thank you for your service to purebred dogs. We wish you many many more.
There are a number of our good friends celebrating birthdays this week including Rob Skibinski, Amy Rutherford, Derek Beatty, Phil Booth, Sydney Good, Eric Liebes, Glenn Lycan, Jason Hoke and Michele Abati.
If you have a birthday, anniversary or other significant milestone coming up, please let me know. We would love to hear about any special trips or judging assignments you have as well. You can send us something via email, Facebook, phone, text or carrier pigeon. Let us know what’s happening out there!
I look forward to seeing you soon, folks! Be careful out there! Until next time….
