AKC Museum Of The Dog Showcases Canine Companions At The White House With New Exhibit

The American Kennel Club® Museum of the Dog is excited to announce its newest exhibit, Presidential Dogs: Canine Companions in the White House, which will run September 18th through January 5th.

The exhibition explores the fact that dogs, as well as other pets, have played a significant role in the lives of the President of the United States since the country’s founding. Given the approaching Presidential election, the AKC Museum of the Dog will reflect on and share with visitors the history of dogs in the White House, including the various breeds who have had access to the Oval Office.

In addition to the breeds represented, the exhibition will feature archival video footage to highlight some of the most notable presidential dogs, such as excerpts from FDR’s “Fala” speech and Nixon’s “Checkers” address, which will be playing in the Museum’s AKC.tv studio.

“Our upcoming exhibition, ‘Presidential Dogs: Canine Companions at the White House,’ offers a retrospective look at the four-legged friends who have faithfully served alongside America’s leaders,” says Christopher E. Bromson, CEO & Executive Director of the AKC Museum of the Dog. “No politics, just paws.”

In celebration of the exhibition opening, the AKC Museum of the Dog will host a Member preview at 9:30am on September 18th before the exhibit opens to the public at 11am, as well as Furry Friday: Presidential Dogs edition on October 4th, in which guests can visit the museum and explore the exhibit with their own pups.
