At least once a year, all exhibitors should go to a dog show unencumbered with a dog, grooming table and equipment. They should go for the sole purpose of observing the handling of their breed in particular, and a variety of breeds in general.

During my travels to shows recently, one topic kept coming up again during conversations with seasoned exhibitors and breeders. There is a feeling amongst many in the fancy that they cannot approach the majority of judges to discuss their decisions that day.
