I dropped by the Edison, New Jersey shows a couple months ago, and I am delighted to say these clubs are going strong. New Brunswick hosted back-to-back shows on Friday and Saturday, March 21-22nd, and the Bronx Kennel Club held their 102nd show on Sunday, March 23rd. A good part of the success is due to their prime location at the Raritan Convention Center. It’s costly but the tradeoff is lots of space and a relatively convenient commute from all directions.

Freddie- The English Springer Spaniel now holds the record for the most – Best in Shows in the history of the breed.

When we closed the first part of this story, Pat was hanging out with Raymond Oppenheimer, totally immersed in the Bull Terrier scene. So we need to backtrack a bit. Pat never lost her love for Sighthounds. On the contrary, by 1965 she had also acquired an Ibizan Hound, “And we started breeding some Afghans.”

Never, never did we ever expect to become nomads. When we sold our home of twenty-three years, we looked forward to building a new one. Taking our needs for our future years into consideration, a new, custom-built home seemed just the right fit for us and the dogs. The thought of creating our new space was exhilarating. We found a lot, got a builder, and worked with an architect. Building plans were created and sent to our municipal building department for approval. A land engineering group was hired, too. Now we had our team. It was go-time, and we were ready to take our leap of faith.
