101 Park Avenue, in Manhattan, which houses the AKC Museum of the Dog, is sleek and modern, but on the inside lies a rich material past. The Museum and the AKC’s archives were first housed at the Club’s old headquarters at 51 Madison Avenue, then relocated to St. Louis, and then returned to New York in February of 2019. The collection now takes up several floors, and the Club’s public display is on the first through the third floors.

Some fanciers elected to leave for the Indianapolis shows a bit early in order to miss the weather, and they arrived safe and sound. I hear that finding places to eat was indeed a challenge due to many establishments being closed because of the weather and the lack of cleaning crews on the roads! Apparently, the cleaning crews were on strike and the area was depending on private citizens to help clear the roads. As some said: Denny’s never looked so good!

The entries for Crufts 2022 have now been announced. In total, more than 16,000 dogs will be competing across the four days at Crufts.

This year has seen an increase of 40 per cent or more in the entries for the Irish Water Spaniel, Sloughi, Lowchen (Little Lion Dog) and Canadian Eskimo Dog compared with 2020.

The 100th Adopt a K-9 Cop grant was given to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in Sylva, NC sponsored by The United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) with AKC Reunite matching the funds raised three-to-one. The USPCA has been a top participating sponsor in the program.
