The International Kennel Club of Chicago: To anyone who’s been around awhile, it’s one of the Big Ones, the ones you plan for, travel for, and wait for all year. It’s one filled with excitement, tradition, innovation, prestige and numbers. It’s one that was for years the largest show in the country. It’s one that was subsequently almost lost forever. And now, like the phoenix rising from the ashes–it’s back!

Even Americans have been enthralled by the spectacle of Britain’s farewell to their beloved queen. The pageantry and ceremony kind of takes your breath away. Although every stage of this carefully choreographed occasion was incredibly dazzling, nothing compared to the sight of her beloved horses and Corgis lined up for their final goodbye to their owner.

Paying tribute to Ronald Menaker in just a few pages is a daunting task. When he passed away in Jupiter, Florida on February 16, he had accomplished much in his 77 years—in our sport, his career in business, and through his generosity as a philanthropist. All well-documented in the business and dog world. To his family and friends, he was a brilliant, kind, and “utterly charismatic” individual. To others he was a “genius” who combined his honed business and people skills with vivid vision. Lorna Hastings Menaker remembers her husband of eight years as “very witty, a great raconteur, very humble—he was Ron, truly one of a kind—unique.”
