I’ll dispense with any explanations or excuses about gifts for dogs. That weird human habit devolved into a mainstream custom long ago. At this point, it ranks among predictable consumer expenditures long before Black Friday rolls around. That leaves us with the bigger question of what do you get for the dog who has everything. Breed Priorities – Weimaraner

The original Weimaraners were bred by the aristocracy in the early 19th century in Weimar, Germany, as a versatile hunting dog to hunt large game. Called Weimar Pointers, they were owned only by the nobility. Eventually they were used to hunt smaller animals and game birds. They were nicknamed the “grey ghost” because of their distinctive coat and eye color, although it is suspected that the grey color was an accidental development.

The Sacrum

The sacrum is of great importance concerning the hind limb assembly. It is attached to the pelvis by the sacral articulating cartilage at the hip joint. The two fused sacral cartilages, including the three sacrum, form the roof of the pelvic cradle. The number of sacral vertebrae that enter into the forming of the sacrum differs in various breeds. It is three in dogs; the first is the largest, the second and third join together with the largest. (Figure 1)

University Of Florida Veterinary Students Attend Space Coast KC Of Palm Bay

On November 7th a group of Veterinary students from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine attended the Space Coast Kennel Club of Palm Bay Dog Show held in Ocala, Florida. For most, this was their first introduction to conformation shows and an opportunity meet and greet members of our fancy. The students spent time learning about breeds that interested them from breeders and exhibitors and were given a quick lesson in how a dog show works.
