There’s a great song by Jerome Kern (music) and Dorothy Fields (lyrics) in the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie Swing Time, which has the refrain “Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.” In the movie, the subjects are dancing—and in love. Plans were already in motion to return the 2022 show to Madison Square Garden, after its forced, if elegant, exile to the Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown in 2021. Then, the Co-Vid Omicron variant surfaced, and the Club, guided by its aptly named Show Chair David Helming, picked itself up and prepared for a return to Lyndhurst.

At some shows, a special class is held for puppies- and sometimes for veteran dogs (over the age of 7) in which the winner of the class earns a monetary prize. What are these events called?

The judge was looking forward to making her return to the ring after a few years off due to the illness and eventual death of her beloved husband of 52+ years. She was a world-renowned breeder, exhibitor and judge who, after turning down several invitations, accepted the opportunity to judge a cluster hosted by a club that had an equally prestigious reputation. It was a location far from home and she thought it might be good to get out of town and see some old friends.
