The Junior’s Perspective – Remembering Your Roots

F Juniors Perspective

Juniors Showmanship of the past was characterized by large and talented entries of the sport’s best and brightest. Many of the great past juniors have become our idols and handlers today. Since then, there has been a shift in Juniors. We are seeing lower entries and a different purpose of participation. In my last article both Valerie Nunes-Atkinson and Karen Mammano brought up interesting points regarding the changes to Junior Showmanship recently. How has Junior Showmanship changed over the past decade, and how does this affect the future of our sport?

Been There Done That

F Been There Done That

Congratulations to all who planned for and participated in these four days of all breed, specialty, and group shows near Tokyo, Japan. Among the very first to occur since COVID impacted Japan, as it did so many other countries, the show scene was lively and filled with eager exhibitors and happy dogs that were glad to be at the shows. The show committee spent time and effort to assure that the shows ran smoothly. With some clever detective work, the clubs found an unusual but functional place to have four days of shows. A vacant car park located adjacent to Natrita Airport, Tokyo’s main airport, became an ideal place to show dogs. You can see–in the photos–the ring layout, grooming areas, officials’ and judges’ tent, and areas where all in attendance gathered to enjoy the shows, reconnect, and watch the action in the ring. Good weather on the four days of judging, outside in November, made it comfortable for everyone.

Richard Rosenthal has specialized in this field for the past decade. This profile outlined his background and reasons for making his niche in such an obscure field, a label that some would consider open to debate.

The Chihuahua Quinceañera

Fashion,Photo,Of,Elegant,And,Sexy,Woman,In,White,Clothes

By Amy Fernandez It’s impossible to not wonder how long our dogs will live. The unfortunate reality of canine longevity is built into this deal from the moment it starts. I won’t bore you with platitudes and rationalizations about losing beloved dogs because no matter how you dice it, that bit of rough truth is […]
