The American Staffordshire Terrier is one of several bull-and-terrier breeds recognized by AKC. Early in the 19th century, the Bulldog (as it was two centuries ago) was mixed with some terriers to get a dog with the courage and tenacity of the Bulldog and the spirt and agility of Terriers. One result of the crosses was the Staffordshire Terrier.

Mrs. Kramer brings a lifetime of experience as a preservation breeder, professional dog handler, American Kennel Club Executive Field Representative, and judge to the most prestigious assignment in the sport. As a child, Mrs. Kramer started in the sport showing her Wire Fox Terriers. She later worked for a top Scottish Terrier breeder after school and on weekends, to learn animal husbandry, and gain more experience showing dogs. Later she apprenticed under a prominent professional dog handler and eventually became a highly successful top handler herself while continuing to be a preservation breeder. Mrs. Kramer has bred National Specialty and All-Breed Best In Show winners, and numerous top-ranked dogs. She handled top-winning Terriers and Toy dogs setting

Another day of unremitting rain continues to fall on the wilds of Western New Jersey. For more than a week, we have been under continuous flash flood alerts. I am looking out the large windows in front of me, as I sit at the kitchen island, and all I can see is the water dripping from the canvas cover over the dogs’ large pen. Beyond that the foothills of the Appalachians are obscured by the mist and rolling fog. The windmill which pumps water on this farm property is enjoying a rest from the many battles it has fought when the strong winds have blown through relentlessly. It is a relic of the 1940s, but still in good working condition today.
