To win more in Junior Showmanship, you should focus on skill development, plan and conduct consistent and engaging practices with your ring partner, and develop a competitive mindset that allows you to prioritize your effort and personal growth in the sport over just winning. Also, if you practice good sportsmanship and take ownership of your successes and failures, the wins will come to you.

The championship will again be held alongside the AKC Agility Invitational, Obedience Classic, and AKC RACH Invitational. Truffles have been a celebrated delicacy throughout recorded history, and for all that time this celebrity fungus has been linked to a few select regions of Europe. Italy is known for its white truffles; black or Perigord truffles are named for that region of France. Okay, truffle sourcing is not our topic, but their scarcity ensures that truffle prices remain sky high, generally ranging from $3,000 to $8,000 per pound. Those are the average prices; they can go way higher. The current record-setting truffle sold for over $330,000. It’s the familiar story of insatiable demand and extremely restricted supply.

Dog shows were a product of Victorian England, with the first show being held in 1859 in Newcastle. Initially, dog shows were not a stand-alone affair, but rather an add-on event, and that very first show was part of an agricultural fair for poultry.

This year, on Memorial Day weekend, there were 164 chances for Best In Show, or BISS, in five days. There were 73 AKC All-Breed and Group shows, and 91 specialty shows, held between May 20th and May 24th, 2026. Seriously.
