Ellicott City, MD Resident Wins Masters Agility Championship At Westminster

The Border Collie of Ellicott City, Maryland, owned and handled by Cynthia Hornor, won the 10th Anniversary of the Masters Agility Championship at Westminster presented by Purina Pro Plan. The event was held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center on Saturday, May 6.

Truant, a 6.5-year-old male, officially known as NAC MACH On Target’s Don’T Be Late! MXB MJM MXF T2B, bested a field of 350 Agility competitors over two rounds of competition under judges Mr. Andrew Dicker and Ms. Lori Sage. After advancing to the Championship round of 50 finalists, Truant and Hornor, the winners of the 20-inch height division, posted the fastest clean round of 28.68 seconds to become the 2023 Masters Agility Champion.

The Westminster Kennel Club donates $5,000 to honor the winner of the Masters Agility Championship to the AKC training club of the winners’ choice or the AKC Humane Fund. A donation of $1,000 will also be made in the names of the Highest Scoring All-American Dog and the four remaining first-place dogs in their height classes.

The Masters Agility Championship is part of Westminster Week which includes the 147th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show and 8th Annual Masters Obedience Championship.

The finals of the Masters Agility Championship were televised on FOX from 2pm to 4:30 pm ET on Sunday, May 7, 2023. For full results and video, visit westminsterkennelclub.org.
