AKC News Release: April 1, 2025

At its April meeting, the Board determined that the 3,000 plus conformation judges are not enough to fill the panels for the record-setting number of shows. Accordingly, at its April meeting, the Board passed an addendum to the current CEU Matrix, referred to as the ACEU (Additional Component Educational Units) to use when calculating the total CEU points required for judges applying for additional breeds.

These ACEUs are intended to advance judges faster so they can obtain the multiple group status that clubs require to remain financially solvent.  This ACEU addendum is effective April 1, 2025. If you haven’t figured out that the effective date happens to coincides with April Fool’s Day, you’ve missed the point. April Fools!
