Whether it’s your first day on the job or you’re staring down a life sentence, you won’t get far in the dog game without a vivid imagination. Generally, this is considered a creative talent rather than a survival trait. But just think about how it plays into every step of the process, from envisioning that ideal image defined in your breed’s standard to planning the future of your next great puppy. And needless to say, no sane person gets up before dawn and drives hundreds of miles without a good mental picture of positive results. However, no amount of dog biz visualization can prepare you for some eventualities–like winning M&E three times in a row.

We are all about to share a lesson “en francais”, in French, and so much more. Once upon a time long, long ago in a typical suburban town on the North Shore of Long Island, New York, a ten year-old intellectually curious girl was presented with a Le Petite Larousse French Dictionary. She had actually pleaded for the book for weeks. Thrilled to finally have her very own edition, she executed her best script handwriting on the book plate inside the front cover. There she noted the date, occasion, and her name. Could there be more joy from a gift? Considering that she still has the book after all these years should be a hint. That the book is mine cannot be a surprise.

Breed Priorities – Weimaraner

The original Weimaraners were bred by the aristocracy in the early 19th century in Weimar, Germany, as a versatile hunting dog to hunt large game. Called Weimar Pointers, they were owned only by the nobility. Eventually they were used to hunt smaller animals and game birds. They were nicknamed the “grey ghost” because of their distinctive coat and eye color, although it is suspected that the grey color was an accidental development.
