Unfortunately, there were some sick dogs brought to the Allentown, PA shows in December. As a result, a few dogs were severely affected, and there has been at least one death that was allegedly caused by exposure to a virus at the show. If we all pitch in and keep symptomatic dogs home, including all dogs exposed, we can hopefully avoid another major outbreak of illness amongst our special friends.
The 143rd Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show reached its conformation entry limit, for a total of 2,800 dogs among 203 breeds and varieties representing 2,916 entries which includes 102 junior showmanship qualifiers and 14 obedience teams competing in the 4th Annual Masters Obedience Championship at Westminster on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019. There are also 330 agility teams entered in the 6th Annual Masters Agility Championship at Westminster on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, part of the Meet & Compete event featuring AKC Meet the Breeds®.
Our dear friends in Colorado–the Johnson family–suffered a great loss last week when Avory Kvale, daughter of Courtney, granddaughter of Doug and Michaelanne, and niece of Colton and Heather, was tragically killed in an automobile accident at the young age of 17.
AKC National Championship week 2018 has come to a close along with the 2018 show year!
