I am sad to report that Ellen Yamada passed away last week. She is remembered by those close to her as always being optimistic, encouraging and supportive of those around her. She was an instrumental member of the Orange Empire Dog Club as well as a dedicated and devoted fancier. Please keep Burt and the Yamada family in your thoughts at this most difficult time. Ellen will be sorely missed by the fancy and all who loved her.
Congratulations to Phil Booth and Heidi Hartman who tied the knot a couple weeks ago! Best wishes for a bright future filled with love and happiness.

The Edison shows have been a local favorite for years. The centerpiece of the weekend, New Brunswick on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25, and Bronx on Sunday the 26th drew reasonably good entries with 1395 on Friday, 1696 on Saturday and 1557 Sunday. Pretty good, but not like the old days.

Well, Crufts 2023 is in the rearview mirror, and I enjoyed watching all the show updates and excitement shared by all of our American friends at the show! The USA was well-represented, indeed! For many, showing a dog at Crufts is a dream, while others dream of attending as a spectator. It is certainly on my bucket list!

In this month’s From the Publisher column (http://caninechronicle.com/current-articles/from-the-publisher-39/), Tom Grabe talks about a 2012 interview in CC with one of my all-time favorite judges, Mr. Edd Bivin. In that discussion, Mr. Bivin encourages new exhibitors to look around the ring and enjoy the moment! Tom also chats about his first time at a show, hoping for […]

I believe that there were six clusters around the country this past weekend. In keeping with the question of are there too many dog shows, I’d like to add this data for consideration: Of the six clusters held, only one show was under 1,000 on Saturday, and that was the show held in […]
