Just when you thought flying with dogs couldn’t get any worse well it has. The new TSA ID requirements go into effect just in time for that annual grueling trek to Westminster. Specifically, beginning January 22, 2018, ID requirements at those delightful TSA airport security checkpoints will be stepped up. A detailed list of TSA acceptable forms of ID can be accessed at tsa.gov.

Wayne Smith and his nine-year-old canine sidekick “Buddy” have logged in a lotta years and miles together. Since relocating from Florida they have become a familiar sight in the neighborhood as has Smith’s grocery shopping routine, which commenced as usual that fateful afternoon.

Orlando is one of our greatest opportunities for public outreach. We need to continue to be mindful of such outreach if we are going to continue to grow our sport and encourage newcomers to join us. The efforts at the Meet the Breed booths were very impressive, and I was very happy to see seasoned exhibitors, breeders and professional handlers pitch in and help their breeds.
