9/11 — NEVER FORGET Heroes Come In All Shapes And Sizes

HEROES COME IN ALL SHAPES AND SIZES

On this Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance, we remember a day that forever changed America.

We remember those whose lives were taken.
We remember the families who never got to say goodbye.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and first responders who ran toward the unimaginable when everyone else was trying to escape.

And we remember the heroes who walked on four paws.

In the smoke, dust and mountains of rubble, search-and-rescue dogs and their handlers worked tirelessly—searching, climbing, digging and refusing to give up. They went where they were asked to go, trusting the person beside them every step of the way.

They did not understand why the world had suddenly changed.

They only knew there was a job to do.

To every search-and-rescue dog, every handler, every first responder, every volunteer, and every person who answered the call that day and in the difficult days that followed:

Thank you.

For your courage.
For your sacrifice.
For searching when hope seemed lost.
For reminding us of the very best of humanity during one of its darkest moments.

It happened att 8:46 a.m. ET. This morning, as our nation pauses to remember, may we also remember the extraordinary bond between these dogs and their handlers—and all those who served beside them.

25 years later, we still remember.
We still honor.
We will NEVER FORGET. ????????????
