Del Sur Kennel Club Standing Strong with Ukrainians & Their Pets

San Diego County, CA — In solidarity with the Ukrainian people and their pets, the Del Sur Kennel Club, DSKC, invites dog owners and the San Diego Community to give a donation of any amount during their upcoming three-day Annual County Dog Show AKC sanctioned event at Bates Nut Farm starting Friday, April 29.

“We are all feeling the effects of this tragedy, DSKC members realize this event is an opportunity to help Ukraine, especially the pets,” added Show Chairperson, Margaret Williamson. Hundreds of animals have been left to perish already.

All funds collected go directly to Equiwent (https://www.equiwent.org), a German organization with operations in Poland and Romania. They are assisting Ukrainian people and especially their pets.

A third-time Special attraction for the weekend is the Pee-Wee competition for 5–9-year-olds, who are invited with a parent to enter the ring and develop skills in showing dogs. No dog is too much to handle for these motivated kids.  The Del Sur Kennel Club encourages the very young to learn conformation standards while demonstrating poise and control with their furry companions. For the first time since the pandemic, these Pee-Wees will handle their pets without masks.

Dr. Kay Henderson emphasizes, “there is no entry fee and all five to nine-year-olds are invited with a parent to enter the ring… the dog must be at least 4 months old with a proper collar and lead. We will have some extras to loan Pee Wee participants if they don’t have the proper equipment. Pee Wees Special Attraction is an enjoyable experience for audience and participants, who often amaze us handling a dog twice their size.”

For this special event, nearly any dog qualifies. Those dogs allowed are AKC (American Kennel Club) recognized, miscellaneous class breeds, PAL (AKC’s Purebred Alternative Listing), FSS (AKC Foundation Stock Service) in addition to All-American breeds.

Del Sur Kennel Club, an all-breed club has been serving the San Diego Canine Community since 1961. For additional details about the club and their members see the club’s website, https://www.DelSurKC.com.
