Table Talk
The first Poodle Club of America (PCA) at Purina Farms is in the books and I would have to say it was indeed a success! With an entry that was up over 30% from last year, the exhibitors and club members seemed quite content with their new specialty digs! Speaking of Purina Farms folks, if you are travelling this week to specialties beware as I-44 between St. Louis and Gray Summit will be closed due to flooding. You should take I-270 to Manchester Road to Highway 100.
The fancy was devastated this past week while dealing with the loss of several prominent friends. Many are grieving the loss of Norm Patton who suffered a massive stroke while at dinner with friends after a day of judging. Ceil Ruggles also suddenly passed away suddenly. Dr. Ruth Barstow passed away while travelling to the Cairn National from California, and finally Joel Rosenblatt, who has been ill for quite some time, succumbed to his illness. Our thoughts go out to all family and friends of these beloved individuals. They will be missed by all who knew them.
Desi Murphy was not going home after PCA; He was off again to Asia, specifically Japan this time. Meanwhile, Val Atkinson just returned home from judging in Mexico City. It’s great seeing our top fanciers spreading their knowledge around the globe.
Congratulations to RHP Apprentice Tiffany Cardin of Connecticut who is the recipient of the 2016-17 George Ward Scholarship! Tiffany is apprentice to handler Tuni Conti.
I have seen many photos on Facebook of the awesome dog exercise area at the Atlanta Airport! If one has to fly with dogs, it seems that Atlanta is definitely the place to fly to and from!
Birthday wishes this week to Bill Usherwood, Krista Musil, Carri Beaver, Cassie Clark, Pam Lambie, Lee Kronovich and Melaine Sorice.
When travelling to shows this week, please be careful my friends, and check for flooding before you leave! Hug your pooches and be kind to your fellow exhibitors.
Until next time…..
