Table Talk
After many years in Salisbury, Maryland, the Poodle Club of America (commonly known as PCA) will be holding their National at Purina Farms. While there was apprehension about this move from some of the PCA members and exhibitors when this move was announced at last year’s National, it seems as if those concerns were misplaced as the entry is up over THIRTY PERCENT!!!!! With over 100 motor homes reserving space, and over 800 dogs entered, the last week of April in Gray Summit, Missouri will be all things Poodle.
Doug Johnson, Jamie Hubbard, Marjorie Martorella and Evalyn Gregory all journeyed to Australia for judging assignments. Not to worry, it was not all work and no play, as some wonderful sightseeing was done by this group. Their photos have been shared on social media!
RC Carusi had a journey of his own as he flew to England to attend the National Terrier Dog Show. It looks like it was another wonderful event.
Toby Frisch is off to judge in Finland where she will judge Bichons, Bulldogs, Min Pins and Coton de Tulear. We can’t wait to hear about her experience there!
There was many a tear shed as Larry Cornelius ran his last left-handed circle as a professional handler. Larry, we wish you well with your new career with the AKC and we are glad that we will still be able to see you at the shows. However, you will certainly be missed INSIDE the ring! I’d also like to extend most sincere congrats to you and Marcelo on the birth of your recent foal! There are so many exciting things happening in the world of Larry and Marcelo and we are all happy for you!
I am very happy to hear that Bill Usherwood received a clean bill of health at his recent exam. To celebrate, Bill is off to South Korea for a judging assignment. I am sure he will be sharing his photos and experiences with us upon his return.
We wish to extend our most sincere condolences to Jeff Lawrence and his family and friends on the recent passing of Jane Gray after an extended illness. She will be missed.
A special shout-out to Tony Carter as he undergoes cancer treatment. Tony’s daughter Rylee is with him every step of the way as is the fancy. We are thinking about you Tony!!!
At the April AKC Board of Director’s Meeting the following Executive Officers were elected:
• Dennis Sprung – President and CEO
• Gina DiNardo – Executive Secretary
• Joseph Baffuto – Chief Financial Officer
