Table Talk · December 18, 2019
That’s a wrap, my friends! The 2019 show year comes to a close and it is my hope that everyone is either home, or almost home, to spend quality time with family and friends. The 2019 AKC National Championship week was filled with so many fanciers chasing their dreams, and I would have to say the camaraderie and support amongst everyone at the show was truly a joy to behold. I was overwhelmed by the depth of quality of the dogs exhibited at this show.
The National Anthem is played at all dog shows at the start of the event. Nearly all exhibitors, spectators, etc. demonstrate the respect that is expected when the National Anthem is either performed or played. This, in my opinion, is important, especially at events where we have many visitors and exhibitors from other countries. We want to demonstrate our support and respect for our country. There was an exhibitor at the show, who, unfortunately, did not think this was important, and when called out by others actually flipped off the people who called her on it. Interestingly enough, this exhibitor was wearing her number when this occurred…
AKC Judge, Delegate, photographer and French Bulldog fancier Luis Sosa was in Orlando stewarding when he was taken to the hospital via ambulance for severe reflux. Thankfully, he was released and arrived back at the show in no time! We are glad you are feeling better, Luis!
Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to chat with us on Table Talk Live! not only in Orlando, but throughout the year. It is because of you that we are able to communicate with the fancy and make our Table Talk Live! coverage at shows something the fancy looks forward to seeing when we appear at the big shows. You can check our Canine Chronicle Facebook page or CanineChronicle.TV for all of our coverage, not only from Orlando, but the other shows that we have had the privilege to enjoy with you. I am blessed with the best job, and I thank you all for your support and participation. Huge thanks to Tom and Amy Grabe for not only believing in me, but spending resources on Table Talk and Table Talk Live! that promotes such great communication amongst those in the sport of purebred dogs. Our next stop is Westminster and I look forward to seeing you all in New York!
The dog fancy showed their true colors once again when Kate and Mike Berry’s vehicle broke down on the way home from Orlando and other exhibitors went to their rescue! Everyone is safe and comfortable thanks to the group effort!

I am sorry to report that AKC Judge and Japanese Chin fancier Richard Camacho passed away. Known as a true gentleman, and great dog man, he will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the fancy. We extend our condolences to his family and friends.
Best wishes to Sharon Carvalho who will be undergoing surgery soon. We will miss you, Sharon, and we look forward to having you back soon.
Continued prayers and support for professional handler and Dalmatian fancier John Benoit who continues his fight against cancer. We are all pulling for you, my friend.
Baby Evelyn McFadden was kind and waited for Grandma Taffe to return home from Orlando before making her introduction to the world! Talk about great timing! Evelyn entered the world on Tuesday December 17th and Taffe was able to join the family to welcome her. Best wishes to the family on this joyous arrival!
Celebrating birthdays this week are: Ashley Ryan, Mike McGuire, Remy Smith-Lewis and Lee Herr. Have a very happy birthday all, and may you have many more!
We would love to get breed priority segments for those new breeds in Miscellaneous and those being fully recognized by the AKC in 2020. If you are interested in helping with your breed, please reach out to me at deb.cooper@caninechronicle.com.
Congratulations to all for your accomplishments in 2019, and most of all, for chasing your dreams. Continue to enjoy the moment, and cherish the opportunity to be involved in our sport.
Be safe, be well, and give your canines an extra special hug. Until next time!…
