Table Talk

I am leaving for Santa Barbara tomorrow and look forward to seeing my West Coast compadres there!  Once again, this year the Breeder’s Showcase will take place on Saturday night.  If you have never been to SBKC, you should consider going at least once. Even if you don’t exhibit your dog, attending as a spectator is great fun.  The transformation of the horse arena is breath taking and the event is lovely.  It does make for a very long day for exhibitors and dogs as there are several events that take place after Best In Show leading up to the Breeder’s Showcase.  There is a Bullie Spectacular and a Foreign Bred competition.  All of the non-regular class events take place in the transformed horse arena.

Week one of the two week Topeka cluster has wrapped up.  After a short break, folks will be back at it for Part II of the cluster. I guess Topeka has truly gone to the dogs!

The Shasta Kennel Club announced a new venue and new dates for 2018.  The “California Cruisin” cluster will take place March 15-18, 2018 at the Shasta District Fairgrounds.

Faith Ott, owner of the Spanish Water Dog “Jango” that is shown by Nina Fetter, is off to Budapest and Slovakia.  She will be bringing back two Spanish Water Dog puppies.  It sounds like a fabulous trip with the added excitement of bringing back two new puppies.

Congratulations to West Coast Siberian fanciers Joey Alarcon and Evan MacDermott who, after three-and-a-half years, are consolidating to one happy home!  Best wishes to both of you.

Cassie Clark has made her second annual trip across the country from the West Coast to the East Coast where she will ensure that all guests at Jim and Janet Moses’ hunting lodge are well fed.  Anyone that has had the pleasure of sampling Cassie’s wonderful catering talents knows what a special treat it is for the diners.  Cassie will spend the next couple of months out east for hunting season and will then return to the West Coast.

Happy Anniversary to Luke and Tammy Seidlitz.  I can’t believe how time flies:  Asher is already pitching in and helping lead break puppies!

Celebrating birthdays this week are:  Dana Cline, Mai Ozeki Hirai, Larry Fenner and Bobby Fisher.

Enjoy the last days of summer my friends!  Travel safe and keep me posted on your trips, anniversaries, birthdays, and anything else you think your friends may find interesting.

Until next time….
