Montgomery County KC weekend 2019 has come to a close, and I am so glad that I was able to join in the fun. I now have a much better understanding of why MKC is viewed as not only the largest all Terrier Show in the World, but also the greatest Terrier Show in the World! The depth of quality of dogs was phenomenal, the sportsmanship and camaraderie was amazing, and the show committee put on an excellent event! Rain on Thursday at Hatboro, and “pop-up” showers on Sunday during the group at Montgomery did not destroy the positive feel from the exhibitors and spectators. Everyone was happy to be in attendance and a little bad weather was not going to ruin it for anyone! Congratulations to all the winners throughout the weekend and I hope everyone gets home safely.
While some folks may have heard that there was a dog fight at the Bull Terrier ring, Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine checked in to clarify that this was NOT the case! Two dogs were playing over the ring gates, and one dog leaped in the air and unfortunately landed wrong and broke his leg. The owner took the dog to the ER, and then headed home where he is now hospitalized. Healing thoughts go out to “Squiggy” while he heals from his injury. This is another good example of why you need to check your sources and verify information prior to repeating it.
A big thanks to the vet staff that rushed over to the ring to help the injured dog. Also, a shout-out and thank you to Laura Pethke and Monica Buescher McClamrock for their help, along with the Montgomery Kennel Club members who checked in to see how “Squiggy” is doing.
Thanks to everyone for your participation in The Canine Chronicle’s Table Talk Live! coverage at Montgomery and for your kind words of support. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend time covering significant events in our sport such as Montgomery weekend and chat with fanciers who share knowledge, memories and fun facts for the fancy to enjoy. Please remember I love to hear your ideas not only for our Table Talk weekly column, but for our live coverage as well! Feel free to send me a Facebook message, or email me at deb.cooper@caninechronicle.com.
Carol and Ron Spritzer are enjoying some vacation time in Russia, while Sue Vroom is spending time with family in Italy. Enjoy my friends, and safe travels home!
Tammy and Gregg Bohlke celebrated their 20th anniversary this past week on a cruise to the Bahamas. I wonder if they left any of those yummy cocktails for their fellow “cruisers”!! Happy Anniversary, guys, and may you have many, many more.
Celebrating birthdays this week are: Jon Cole, Gaby Gilbeau, Ilaria Biondi de Ciabatti and Teena Uyeno.
I leave you with this thought for the week: Some fights are not worth your time. Choose what you fight for wisely. Fight for your vision, your dreams, your ideas and your destiny!
Be safe in your travels, my friends, and I look forward to seeing you down the road! Until next time…
