Westminster Kennel Club’s VOTY Honoree Dr. Sara K Lyle Designates NOMV for Charitable Donation

By Debra Hamilton, Esq.. Conflict Coach/Consultant & Mediator

In a meaningful gesture that bridges the worlds of show dogs and veterinary mental health, Dr. Sara K Lyle, the Westminster Kennel Club’s 2025 Veterinarian of the Year, has designated Not One More Vet (NOMV) as the recipient of the $10,000 Westminster Cares charitable donation awarded in her honor.

This designation is particularly significant as it continues to represent the recognition within the purebred dog community of the vital importance of supporting veterinary mental health and fostering positive relationships between breeders and veterinary professionals. The Westminster Kennel Club, renowned for its commitment to breed preservation and responsible dog ownership, demonstrates through this award that the well-being of veterinary professionals is integral to achieving these goals.

NOMV, which has been providing crucial mental health support and resources to veterinary professionals since its founding, continues to develop innovative programs such as the Clear Blueprint Program. This initiative exemplifies the organization’s commitment to supporting veterinary professionals through comprehensive mental health resources and community building.

The Westminster Cares program, through its annual Veterinarian of the Year and Breed Rescue Awards, continues to strengthen the bonds between all stakeholders in the dog community. This year’s award recognizes not only Dr. Lyle’s outstanding contributions to veterinary medicine but also emphasizes the importance of empathy, collaboration, and constructive communication between veterinary professionals and their clients.

The significance of this connection between the purebred dog community and veterinary mental health is particularly meaningful to those who bridge both worlds. As a dedicated breeder of Irish Setters and Longhaired Dachshunds, with plans to expand into English Cocker Spaniels, I have witnessed firsthand the importance of strong relationships between breeders and veterinary professionals. My work with NOMV in helping develop the Clear Blueprint Program has allowed me to give back to the veterinary community while maintaining my lifelong commitment to the sport and preservation of purebred dogs. This unique perspective underscores how vital it is for these communities to support and understand each other.

This donation will help further NOMV’s mission of providing support to veterinary professionals facing mental health challenges, ensuring that the organization can continue its vital work in promoting well-being within the veterinary community.
