The American Kennel Club Announces The Recipients Of Junior Companion Events Scholarships

The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization, is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Junior Scholarships awarded to those who compete in Companion Events.

“These outstanding young individuals have demonstrated an abundance of commitment—not only to their academic studies but also to the sport of dogs,” Doug Ljungren, AKC Executive Vice President of Sports and Events. “Their dedication, drive, and passion are truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait to see the amazing things they’ll go on to achieve both in and out of the ring.”

Scholarships totaling $10,000 were awarded to the following:

Kathryn Doane, from Lake Genevea, WI. Kathryn competes in Agility and Obedience with her Golden Retriever, Irish Setter, and English Springer Spaniel. Kathryn is attending Carroll University majoring in Elementary Education.

Catherine Eychaner, from Anchorage, AK. Catherine comperes in Obedience, Rally and Agility with her Belgian Sheepdogs. Catherine is a member of the Alaskan Herding Group Club, the Alyeska Canine Trainers of South Anchorage, and the Belgian Sheepdog Club of America. Catherine is interested in studying Astrophysics along with continuing her involvement with Belgian Sheepdogs.

Carly G. Keiser from Robesonia, PA. Carly competes in Agility with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel as well as being an active member of the Berks County Dog Training Club and FFA at school. Carly has been accepted at The Pennsylvania State University and plans to pursue a degree in Nursing.

Isabelle C. McKee from Waunakee, WI. Isabelle competes with her Border Collie, Labrador, and English Springer Spaniel in Agility. Isabelle is a member of the Border Collie Society of America. Isabelle will be attending college in the Fall and is interested in majoring in Marketing.

Calum J. Morgan from Buhler, KS. Calum competes in Agility with his Miniature Poodle and is a member of the Hutchinson Kennel Club and his local 4H Group. Calum is perusing a career in welding.

Kaitlynn L. Myers from Leslie, MO. Kaitlyn competes in Obedience and Rally with her Golden Retrievers. Kaitlynn is attending the University of Missouri pursuing a degree in Animal Science.

Ashlyn C. Navis from Piedmont, SC. Ashlyn is a member of the Greenville Kennel Club and the Sandlapper Golden Retriever Club, competing in Rally, Obedience, Agility, Trick Dog, and Fast CAT. Ashlynn has also been active in 4-H and FFA. Ashlyn will be attending the University of Tennessee to study Business.

Danielle Wagner from Savage, MN. Danielle competes in Agility, Obedience and Rally with her Border Collie and Papillon. Danielle is a member of the North Star Herding Group Club and the Minnesota Agility Club. Danielle is attending Augsburg University majoring in Psychology.
