Summer Goes To The Dogs With AKC’s Dog Adventures Kids Camp Curriculum
The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization, the world’s largest purebred dog registry, and a leading advocate for dogs, is proud to announce the release of the Dog Adventures Kids Camp, an AKC summer camp curriculum developed by AKC Public Education.
This five-part series of lessons is designed to teach campers aged 9-12 about various aspects of our canine companions —from the history of dogs and purebred dog groupings to AKC dog sports, careers with dogs, and more. The program offers a fun, educational camp experience that explores dog-related topics, promotes participation in the AKC Junior’s program, and supports local club involvement within the community.
“The Dog Adventures Kids Camp curriculum features interactive lessons, group activities, and projects, enabling kids to engage meaningfully with canine topics,” said Ashley Jacot, Director of Education. “Campers will gain a deeper appreciation for dogs’ many roles in our lives—as athletic partners, working companions, and family members.”
Designed for flexibility, the curriculum can be implemented by AKC clubs, community organizations, youth programs, and camps nationwide. Whether utilized as a weeklong camp or a series of dog-themed workshops, the ready-to-use materials make planning and leading unforgettable experiences easy. This program is free to download and can be implemented for free or at a very low cost.
