Imagine being able to attend as many shows as your academic and personal commitments allow with little or no cost to you. Envision having the money for entry fees, the costs associated with travel to shows, and possibly, even receiving nice outfits to wear in the ring. Many talented young athletes (and Junior Showmanship is a sport, making you and your ring partner athletes) dream of having the benefits of a sponsorship, but simply have no realistic idea of how to get one. I believe most juniors and their parents would assume that sponsorships are only available to Olympic caliber and professional athletes, but that is simply not the case.
Just what is sponsorship?
Sponsorship for you and your ring partner means obtaining the funding or receiving the donation of goods or services from large companies or local small businesses. In return, you provide the sponsor with marketing value by featuring them on your Facebook page, having their banner on your website, including them in your advertising or by promoting their company in other ways.
Some sponsorships are simple donations for which the business receives nothing in return. While a business owner might feel good about contributing to a good cause, like your efforts to excel in the sport of Junior Showmanship, small businesses generally have a limited amount of money to give away, and they should reasonably expect to derive some benefit from a sponsorship.
